Dr. Ratushny was honored to be invited as a featured speaker and discussion leader at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) annual meeting in Berlin, Germany this past October. The ISHRS is the leading organization for hair restoration surgeons worldwide, and Dr. Ratushny is grateful to be a member of this collegial community.
At the conference, Dr. Ratushny delivered two lectures and led a round table discussion on the results of a clinical trial he conducted for a novel leave-in spray serum designed to target hair shedding and telogen effluvium. Telogen effluvium is an acute episode of hair loss that can be triggered by physical or emotional stressors such as weight changes, new medications, hospitalizations, or surgical procedures (including hair transplantation itself). The product he developed, Folliflo Hair Boost Spray-in Conditioning Serum, demonstrated statistically significant reduction in hair shedding and increased hair density as early as one month in a recent double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 20 women with telogen effluvium and 20 controls.
Dr. Ratushny presented his findings at both the general session and the surgical assistant session, sharing these promising results with colleagues from around the globe. Beyond his presentations, he treasures the opportunity these conferences provide to learn from other leading hair restoration surgeons. “I’ve always believed that we grow the most when we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us,” Dr. Ratushny explains. “The hair transplant surgeons at ISHRS have been incredibly generous in sharing their experiences, techniques, and guidance, and I try to incorporate the best practices I’ve learned from great surgeons around the world into my own work. Ultimately, our patients are the ones who benefit.”
Dr. Ratushny has also contributed to advancing the field through his writing, authoring numerous articles in the Hair Sciences column of the Forum, the official journal of the ISHRS.
